“Where the Deer and the Buffalo Roam”…while the later part of that statement is one that is long gone for our generations and generations after us. The Kansas Association of Taxidermy (KAT) is offering as fundraiser a chance to step back in time and witness the majestic buffalo roaming the red hills of Barber County. Nestled in those red hills is Moon Ranch. Moon Ranch is made up of over 14,000+ acres of rolling hills and canyons. That rugged landscape will transport you back in time to what is reminiscent of the 1880’s Kansas Territory. The Native Americans believe that the Buffalo was a gift from the Great Spirit. To take one of these animals made you a warrior and provider for the tribe. KAT wants you to provide for your family so part of the prize package is up to $2000 for processing. The Moon Ranch will work with the winner to make this experience what they want it to be. You can hunt the trophy bull with your weapon of choice ($8000 Value). Really submerse yourself and use the ranch’s Sharps octagon barrel 45-70 with iron sights just like the buffalo hunters in the 1880’s, or bring your own rifle, bow, etc. No matter what type of hunt you choose this experience will perfectly mix the iconic old west history with the modern-day ranch. The winner of this hunt will get the meat, hide, and skull to use as they wish.
