35th  Annual Competition and Convention

  March 24-26,  2017

Four Points by Sheraton, Manhattan, Ks

 

Friday March 24th,  2017

8:00 - 9:00                 Set of backboards for competition  All board members need to be present to help and                                        for a pre-convention meeting to acquire their assignment!

9:00 - 5:00              Registration open / specimens will be placed by competitors until 4pm

9:00 - 11:00           Seminar 1:  Brian Olson- Hands on setting whitetail eyes

11:00 - 1:00          Lunch on your own

1:00 - 3:00            Seminar 2:  Lance VanDusen- reference casting 

3:00 - 5:00            Seminar 3:  Kent Reedy- Slide show on bird shapes and mounting head of a duck 

4:00 to 5:30   Specimens to be placed by Room Chairman (Registration and mount acceptance closed after this time)

4:00 p.m.                    Judging begins

5:30 - 7:00               Road Kill Social in Hospitality Room- 
                                  Water, soda, and food will be provided, adult beverages allowed but not furnished

7:00 - 10:00             Seminar 4: KS Scramble- Anyone can enter this mini competition by bringing something to mount during this time period.  Can be anything you want to work on and show people who are not participating how you do things. Will be like several mini seminars going on at once.  Similar to the Mo-Kan competition.  At the end of the time, everyone will vote on a first and second place.  Second will receive a plaque and first will receive a plaque and $100 cash.  Perfect chance to get a customer piece done while at the show or a piece of your own that you never get a chance to work on.

Seminar 5:  Blake Reiminger- Mounting a Turkey from A-Z

10:00 - 11:00                       Seminar 6:  Kids painting seminar in hospitality room (supplies furnished)

12:00 - 1:00                          People's Choice Voting

1:00                                        Ladies Lunch & Social 

2:00 - 4:00                            Seminar 7: Mike Orthober- Painting a fish

4:00 - 5:30                            Business Meeting

6:00                                       cocktails/ Dinner/Awards/Silent Auction/ Live Auction

 

Sunday March 26th  2017


9:00 - 11:00                  Seminar 8: Dave Selenke & Cindy Cunningham- Sculpting & Habitat

9:00 - 12:00                showroom open to the public

12:00 - 1:00                  Lunch on your own 

1:00                      Tear down; all mounts can leave, please help and let out of state competitors go first
